“Two species of anise occur in Florida: Florida or red anise (I. floridanum) and yellow anise (I. parviflorum). Both are commonly used as hedges, for screening, in naturalistic understory thickets, to soften corners of buildings, or as large background shrubs. Florida anise is also used to help conceal or beautify retention ponds, drainage swales, and canal banks, though it is not very tolerant of drought or full sun and does better in moist, shady areas.”Florida’s Best Native Landscape Plants 200 Readily Available Species for Homeowners and Professionals, by Gil Nelson, 2003, University Press of Florida, Page 174
